Reid Statement On EPA Extending Reid Gardner Plant Decision For 30 Days

July 13, 2012

Washington, D.C.- Nevada Senator Harry Reid issued the following statement today:

“I am pleased that the US Environmental Protection Agency has extended the period for making a final decision on the appropriate air pollution controls for the Reid Gardner power plant.  Significant comments on the proposed permit, as well as new modeling analyses, indicate the strong need to protect public health and visibility on our public lands with the best possible technology. The Moapa Band of Paiutes, in particular, have experienced many adverse impacts from this plant, including air pollution.  The EPA has taken the appropriate action and I look forward to a final decision.”
