Middle Class Families, Small Businesses Will Have Access To Affordable Choices Like Members of Congress
August 15, 2011
Washington, D.C. – Nevada Senator Harry Reid today announced $4,045,076 to help Nevada establish an affordable health insurance exchange – or state-based marketplace for insurance -- where individuals and small businesses can compare and purchase different private health insurance plans based on their needs and have similar insurance choices as those available to Members of Congress. This exchange is being set up as a result of health insurance reform and will be implemented beginning in 2014.
“These exchanges allow Nevada families and businesses to easily compare quality, affordable health insurance plans and choose which one works best for them,” said Reid. “As a result, Nevadans will have health insurance choices similar to those enjoyed by members of Congress with tax credits available to ensure the private insurance plans are affordable and accessible. These exchanges and tax credits will dramatically simplify, increase choices, and reduce the cost of health insurance coverage for families and small businesses across the state.”
Through exchanges, Nevadans will be able to find out if they are eligible for programs such as premium tax credits, Nevada Check Up, or Medicaid. And small business owners can see if they are eligible for tax credits for offering their employees health insurance.
