Funds to be used for taxiway reconstruction September 9, 2009 WASHINGTON, D.C.—Nevada Senators Harry Reid and John Ensign today announced more than $7.5 million from the Federal Aviation Administration for taxiway reconstruction at McCarran International Airport. The grant will fund the reconstruction of Taxiway G, which is the mid-field taxiway providing access to Terminal 1 (Concourses A, B, C) and Terminal 2. The taxiway reconstruction is segmented into 3 phases and involves replacing approximately 101,800 square yards of asphalt concrete with portland cement concrete pavement. “This is important funding that will create jobs in Las Vegas, while allowing McCarran International Airport to significantly upgrade the quality of its taxiways,” Reid said. “Getting Nevadans back to work is my top priority and this grant furthers that goal. If we can do that while improving the taxiways at our state’s largest airport I believe all Nevada’s will ultimately benefit,” Sen. Ensign said.
