 Washington, D.C.- Nevada Senator Harry Reid issued the following statement on the 2012 Reno Air Races:

“I am pleased that the Reno Air Races have begun. The annual event has been so important to Northern Nevada, and for the last five decades thousands of spectators and enthusiasts have traveled to Reno to enjoy the very best in American aviation. Thorough examinations of last year’s tragic crash have yielded important recommendations that will help ensure the safety of spectators attending the races this year and in years ahead. I have had the opportunity to enjoy the show in the past and am looking forward to attending another in the near future.”
