Reid receives responses to letter calling for rejection of discriminatory federal travel policy

September 14, 2009

Washington, D.C. – Nevada Senator Harry Reid today released letters he has received so far in response to his letter to federal agencies regarding travel discrimination against cities known as resort destinations. Reid’s letter followed correspondence with White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, who made it clear that there is no room in the Obama administration for a federal travel policy that prohibits travel to any particular U.S. city.

“I am pleased that these federal agencies understand the importance of this issue and have replied so quickly,” Reid said. “I’m encouraged that these agencies have made it clear that their policies are in line with the administration’s—that there is no restriction on travel to places like Las Vegas and Reno.”
