September 14, 2009

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Nevada Senator Harry Reid today announced more than $300,000 for the University of Nevada Reno from the Economic Recovery Act for Earthquake Monitoring. The money will be used to upgrade seismic equipment, some of which is decades old.

“This funding will, without a doubt, save lives,” Reid said. “Timely delivery of information both during, and after earthquakes really can make the difference between life and death, all while reducing economic damage.”
