Reid Announces More Than $775,000 Headed To Washoe County For Violent Crime Prevention 

Funds will focus on neighborhood policing, parole officers

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Nevada Senator Harry Reid today announced more than $775,000 from the Economic Recovery Act for violent crime prevention and reduction. Along with investing in neighborhood policing and hiring additional parole officers, the money will be spent on improving a variety of resources and services for crime victims. Washoe County will also use funds from the grant to keep the Sherriff’s Community Work Program running

“This funding creates jobs and makes Washoe County a safer place to live,” Reid said. “From increasing community involvement in keeping our neighborhoods safe, to enhancing forensic capabilities at crime scene investigations, Nevadans in Washoe County can feel good about this investment in their safety and security.
