Reid Statement On Nevada's Unemployment Rate

September 16, 2011

Washington, D.C.Nevada Senator Harry Reid today released the following statement on Nevada’s unemployment rate in August:

“These unemployment figures are deeply frustrating but further evidence that job creation must continue to be our top priority. Yesterday, the Senate, working together, extended the Federal Aviation Administration and surface transportation programs ensuring that aviation and construction workers in Nevada will remain on the job. Now I urge my colleagues in Congress to join me in helping to put Nevadans back to work by quickly passing the American Jobs Act, which will create good-paying jobs that can't be shipped overseas and cut taxes for middle-class Nevada families and small businesses. With so many Nevadans struggling, we must put job creation and the economy ahead of partisan politics.”
