Reid Announces $3 Million Headed To Washoe County RTC

Funds will purchase new buses designed to reduce greenhouse gases and energy use

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Nevada Senator Harry Reid today announced more $3 million in economic recovery funding for the Washoe County Regional Transportation Commission. The funds, made available through a grant from the TIGGER discretionary program (Transit Investments for Greenhouse Gas and Energy Reduction) will be used to will purchase low floor 60' hybrid electric diesel articulated buses to replace 40' and 35' diesel buses currently operating on Route 1.

“I’m so happy to announce this money for the purchase of new buses,” Reid said. “The Washoe County RTC is one of only 43 agencies in the country to receive this type of funding, and the only agency in Nevada.”
