September 21, 2010 Washington, D.C. – Nevada Senator Harry Reid announced nearly $5 million in Department of Justice grants to support Nevada courts, juvenile justice, and crime prevention programs across the state. The grants will help programs that support victims of sexual assault and domestic violence, as well as programs that help train judges, social workers, and community leaders in how to provide victims with the best assistance possible. "Supporting programs that help the courts run efficiently, help victims get the assistance they need, and actively work to prevent crime by educating young people saves our state money and creates jobs," said Reid. "I thank the Department of Justice for funding initiatives that will help our court system assist the victims of domestic or sexual violence as they seek safety and justice."
