Nevada Senator Reid discusses plans to consolidate EPA’s Las Vegas laboratories in a single green facility during his meeting with former UNLV President Carol Harter.

Washington, D.C. – Nevada Senator Harry Reid met today with University of Nevada, Las Vegas President Emerita Carol C. Harter. Reid talked about securing funding to study the consolidation of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Las Vegas offices and facilities into one green building in Las Vegas.

In 2009, Senator Reid secured nearly $500,000 in for the following year’s Interior appropriations bill. Once designs are complete, construction of the energy efficient building will create even more green jobs for Southern Nevada.

“I am proud to support UNLV’s efforts to house EPA’s Las Vegas offices in a single state-of-the-art facility.  Energy efficiency is key to creating a clean energy economy, and green buildings like this one will create much-needed jobs for Nevadans,” said Reid.
