Construction of plant at Toquop site would create hundreds of jobs March 10, 2010 Washington, DC – Nevada Senator Harry Reid yesterday urged the Bureau of Land Management to work with the company and stakeholders to approve near-term construction of a proposed natural gas plant near Mesquite at the Toquop site, which would create hundreds of construction jobs. In his letter to BLM Director Bob Abbey, Reid said that natural gas supplies are abundant, burn more cleanly than the coal, and would help Nevada and the nation transition to an economy fueled by clean renewable energy. In addition, Senator Reid is hopeful that solar power generation facilities will be built at or near the same site at some point in the near future, though that would be a separate action. A copy of Reid’s letter to BLM Director Abbey is included below.
