Reid congratulates Nevada’s newly sworn-in U.S. Marshall, Chris Hoye. Washington D.C.— Nevada Senator Harry Reid met with Chris Hoye, who was sworn in today in Washington as Nevada’s new US Marshall. Reid nominated Hoye for the position because of his outstanding record of achievements in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. During his time with Metro, Hoye rose to the rank of lieutenant, serving on the Mobile Crime Saturation Team and the Homeland Security Saturation Team, and was honored as police officer of the year, commissioner of the year and received the Metro PD award for leadership. As the U.S. Marshall in Nevada, Hoye is in charge of protecting and ensuring the effective operations of the federal judicial system in the state. He will be on the front line of security at Nevada’s federal courthouses in Las Vegas and Reno. His other responsibilities include assisting with fugitive investigations, transporting federal prisoners, protecting endangered federal witnesses, managing assets seized from criminal enterprises and directing special operations and programs.
