May 13, 2010 Washington, D.C.—Nevada Senator Harry Reid today released the following statement to express his sympathy to the Sikh community in Reno whose temple was destroyed by a fire earlier this week. “I was saddened to hear about the fire that destroyed the temple, holy books and library of the Northern Nevada Sikh Society. I appreciate the work of Reno’s first responders to put out the fire and investigate its cause,” said Reid. “A place of worship is also a home. It is a place for the community to come together as one. I offer my condolences and support for Reno’s Sikh community as they mourn the loss of their temple and begin to rebuild.”
