Reid Announces Nearly $4 Million To Upgrade Nevada Airports

 Washington, D.C. -- Nevada Senator Harry Reid today announced nearly $4 million in grants to rehabilitate and improve four Nevada airports.  Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grants totaling $3,847,924 will help renovate portions of McCarran, Boulder City, Elko Regional, and North Las Vegas Airports.

“In addition to creating construction jobs, these FAA grants will allow Nevada’s airports to become safer and more modern,” Reid said.  “As the economy continues to recover and tourists from around the world visit Nevada for its natural beauty and first-class attractions, our airports will be fully capable of serving everyone who wants to come to our great state.”

Below is a breakdown of the grants:

•McCarran International: Acquire land for approaches: $1,077,019.00
•Elko Regional: Rehabilitate runway: $403,750.00
•North Las Vegas: Install airfield guidance signs: $919,343.00
•Elko Regional: Improve runway safety area: $477,375.00
•Boulder City Municipal: Improve runway safety area: $ 970,437.00

Total: 3,847,924.00
