Checks helping seniors who have reached the doughnut hole August 10, 2010 Las Vegas, NV—Nevada Senator Harry Reid today announced the third round of $250 Medicare rebate checks have been mailed to Nevada seniors who have reached the prescription-drug doughnut hole. Nearly 5,000 Nevada seniors have received these tax-free checks that cover the coverage gap that more than 25 percent of seniors reach while on a prescription drug regimen. These checks will work to partly close the doughnut hole this year. Next year the health reform law will take additional steps by offering seniors 50 percent discount on their brand name medications.
