Reid Announces $8 Million For Highway Construction

Funding for road improvements creates jobs statewide

 Reno, NV- Nevada Senator Harry Reid today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded Nevada with more than $8 million in grants for highway improvements and construction. The funding goes to projects that will make Nevada highways safer and create additional jobs in road construction and maintenance. The Pyramid Highway Corridor will receive $1.1 million; a portion of US 50 in Douglas County will receive $1 million for realignment; $2.2 million will go to widen SR 160 between Las Vegas and Pahrump; $500,000 will go to improvements for the State Traffic Safety Information System and $3.3 million will go toward the Southern Nevada Beltway Airport Connector interchange project.

“I thank Secretary LaHood for making these funds available for projects that will put Nevadans back to work and make important improvements to Nevada roadways,” said Reid. “By investing in these projects we ensure the safety and longevity of Nevada’s roadways while providing a boost to our economy and workforce.”
