Reid Statement On World Suicide Prevention Day

September 9, 2010

Las Vegas, NV- Nevada Senator Harry Reid made the following statement on World Suicide Prevention Day on Friday, September 10.

“Nevada has one of the highest suicide rates in the nation. Suicide can devastate families and whole communities. I lost my father to suicide and it took my family many years to talk about it. Throughout my career I have worked to promote measures that help educate families about the risks of suicide and to help prevent them. Today is a day for all those who have been affected by suicide to come out of the shadows and create awareness that can save lives.”
