Nearly $569 million in stimulus funds is putting Nevadans to work on clean energy projects

September 15, 2010

Washington, DC – Nevada Senator Harry Reid today made the following statement on a U.S. Department of Energy report that details the progress being made in Nevada from clean energy investments through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

“The Recovery Act is playing a significant role in our effort to put Nevadans back to work on projects that develop clean energy resources and clean energy technologies.  From the transmission line that will connect the northern and southern parts of the state, to the numerous solar and geothermal projects already underway, Nevada is leading the charge toward energy independence and a thriving clean energy economy.”

According to the Department of Energy’s report, $568.6 million in Recovery Act funds are boosting Nevada’s investment in clean energy including projects ranging from home energy efficiency, smart grid, and geothermal power generation, to solar system and advanced battery manufacturing.  A copy of the report can be found on the Energy Department’s website: http://www.energy.gov/recovery/nv.htm
