Reid Welcomes Nevada American Indian Ambassador To Washington

Nevada Senators Harry Reid and John Ensign welcome Christina Thomas, a member of the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony, to Washington, D.C.

Washington, D.C. – Nevada Senator Harry Reid met this week with Christina Thomas to discuss issues specific to Nevada Indian tribes. Reid also invited her to his Welcome to Washington Breakfast to share her work and her message with other Nevadans. Christina Thomas is a member of Reno-Sparks Indian Colony where she is a Paiute language and cultural instructor. She is currently a member of the Sovereign Doctors Initiative which seeks to address the overflow of patients in need of medical care.

“Christina Thomas and those like her are making great strides to eliminate the health and medical disparities that affect Nevada’s tribal communities,” said Reid. “I support her work preserving the language and culture of Nevada’s Paiute people and I thank her for sharing her mission with me.”
