Reid Announces More Than $750,000 Headed To Clark County School District For Solar Lighting Technology

Funds will create jobs installing new high quality day-time lighting

October 13, 2009

Washington, D.C. – Nevada Senator Harry Reid announced more than $750,000 is headed to the Clark County School District for installing new solar technology that will provide high quality day-time lighting.   The new lighting system will provide natural light without generating any heat, which saves on air conditioning costs.  Electricity bills will also drop because artificial lighting accounts for about one-quarter of the total energy consumed in an average commercial building.

“This money will create good jobs in the Clark County School District while also helping to save taxpayer dollars by conserving energy,” Reid said.  “This is a win across the board for Nevada.”
