Reid Welcomes Two New Parks To Mountain's Edge

Senator secured $8 million to fund Mountain’s Edge Regional Park and create 90 jobs

October 27, 2010

Las Vegas, NV – Nevada Senator Harry Reid today joined elementary students from Reedom and Wright Elementary Schools, Congresswoman Dina Titus and Clark County Commissioners Steve Sisolak and Susan Brager in breaking ground for the Nathaniel Jones Park in Mountain’s Edge.

Reid also announced that Clark County would begin work on Mountain’s Edge Regional Park nearby. Recognizing that this part of the Las Vegas Valley has one of the lowest parks-to- population ratio Reid fought FOR AND SECURED $8 million in funding to build the Mountain’s Edge Regional Park as part of the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act program. More than 90 jobs will be created through construction of this facility. The $8 MILLION THAT REID SECURED will be used to install trails and picnic areas and to develop open spaces that will serve as a central location for family gatherings and community events in the Mountain's Edge area.

"Southwest Las Vegas needs parks like these and that is why I fought so hard to fund the Mountain’s Edge Regional Park," said Reid. "Building this park will create nearly 100 local jobs, getting Nevadans back to work. There could not be a better time to invest in Nevada's families and neighborhoods."
