Young Las Vegas Singers Bring Holiday Cheer to Nation's Capitol December 7, 2007 Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Harry Reid of Nevada welcomed 16 members of the Helen Joy Young Entertainers group to the Capitol and congratulated them for being selected to perform for the President at the 2007 Holiday Season at the White House ceremony.
“I am so proud of these young students,” said Reid. “Everywhere they go, they make Nevada proud, spreading joy and celebrating the holiday season. Their performance was excellent, and I am sure that they will perform marvelously for the President.”
The Helen Joy Entertainers are a singing group of Las Vegas youth ranging in ages from seven to 16. Led by Helen Joy and her daughter Suzy Au, the group focuses on community service and spreading “a little cheer” to anyone who needs it. The group first performed at the White House in 2002 after being inspired by September 11th to share their songs of love and peace.
Reid recommended the Helen Joy Entertainers perform for the President, and the group visited Reid’s office to offer their thanks.
