REID STATEMENT ON NEVADA'S NOVEMBER UNEMLOYMENT RATE

Searchlight, NV- Nevada Senator Harry Reid issued the following statement after Nevada's unemployment rate decreased from 11.5 percent to 10.8 percent in November:

"I'm pleased that Nevadans are continuing to get back to work. While we have a long way to go, we are making progress.  Now we need to maintain this momentum by continuing to work to strengthen our state's middle class. Families need financial certainty as they head into the New Year. Republicans in Congress can give middle class Nevadans that assurance by working with Democrats to avoid the fiscal cliff and avert a tax hike come January 1st.

"The more we work to protect America's middle class the stronger our economy will be. Speaker Boehner should bring the middle-class tax cut passed by the Senate five months ago to the floor of the House of Representatives for a vote. The Senate-passed bill would protect 98 percent of families and 97 percent of small businesses from crippling tax hikes. If Republicans truly want to ensure American families' taxes don't go up on January 1, they should simply pass the Senate bill."
