Reid Meets with Nevada Troops in Kyrgyzstan

Nevada Senator Harry Reid meets with Nevada airmen at Manas Coalition Air Force Base near Bishek, Kyrgyzstan. Reid is leading a bipartisan delegation of senators on a week-long, multi-national trip to promote security, global climate change, democracy, and development.

Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan – Nevada Senator Harry Reid today met with five Nevada airmen at the Manas Coalition Air Base, located just outside of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan’s capital city. Reid also toured the base, which supports logistics in Afghanistan and serves as a transitioning facility for troops preparing to serve in Afghanistan. The tour comes as part of a week-long, multi-national Congressional delegation trip Reid is leading, focused on making progress on terrorism, global climate change, development, and democracy.

Kyrgyzstan has an important and growing relationship with the United States. Troops from Nevada and throughout the U.S. are serving at Manas to promote safety, democracy, and improve law enforcement.

“Our courageous troops here in Kyrgyzstan are helping combat terrorism and keep Americans safe,” Reid said. “I am very proud of all of our men and women who serve in the Armed Forces, and it’s an honor to spend time with troops from Nevada. We know how important our country’s air base at Manas is to democracy and security, and I commend our troops for their service.”
