Reid, Ensign Announce More Than $4.7 Million Headed To McCarran International Airport

September 21, 2009

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Nevada Senators Harry Reid and John Ensign today announced more than $4.7 million in funds from the U.S. Department of Transportation to reconstruct a taxiway, apron, and adjacent terminal ramp areas.

“With unemployment numbers over 13% in Nevada, this money will be put to good use creating jobs here in Las Vegas” Reid said. “At the same time, once the project is finished, travelers at McCarran International can expect a safer more comfortable experience.”

“Our state is hurting, the economy is down and unemployment is high, which is why creating jobs is one of my top priorities,” said Ensign.  “As we strive to bring our tourism revenue back up, this grant money will help to ensure that McCarran remains a safe airport and will help create jobs in the process.”
