Advocates discuss boosting funding for health providers that treat the underserved February 24, 2010 Washington D. C. – Nevada Senator Reid meets with representatives of Nevada’s community health centers (CHC) today to thank Reid for his help in the stimulus package and to discuss comprehensive healthcare reform that would enable health centers to aid more patients. Reid continues his fight for healthcare reform and supports the work of CHCs, non- profit organizations that provides primary care services with a special focus on the uninsured, underinsured and special populations such as patients with HIV and AIDS. Reid headed an effort that provided over $16 million of recovery act funding to Nevada’s CHCs. “Community health centers have selflessly served the needs of uninsured Nevadans for years, but they can’t do it alone,” said Reid. “We will continue to pursue reform that supports the work that these valuable community partners do.”
