Washington, D.C. – Nevada Senator Harry Reid released the following statement on the passing of Las Vegas casino pioneer Jackie Gaughan.
“I’m terribly saddened to hear of the passing of my friend Jackie Gaughan. Jackie is a pioneer of gaming and there is no one more respected in the industry. He came to Las Vegas during World War II, while stationed at what was then Las Vegas Air Force Base; he grew to love Las Vegas, and chose to stay. He created the modern-day casino in Nevada. He has a wonderful family and leaves a wonderful and lasting legacy in Las Vegas. He will forever be missed, and my thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.”
