Las Vegas, NV – Nevada Senator Harry Reid issued the following statement on Nevada’s unemployment rate falling to 8.7 percent in January.
“Nevada has come a long way during the economic recession. And while this is welcome news, unfortunately far too many continue to look for a job. To help Nevadans looking for work, we need to ensure that we make badly-needed job-creating investments, and provide the lifeline of unemployment insurance to those who have lost their job through no fault of their own–so they can continue to feed their families, and pay their bills.
“I’m pleased that last week we finally reached an agreement to extend long term unemployment insurance for 5 months. The Senate will quickly move to act on this compromise when we return to Washington next week. Nevadans who are out of work deserve this peace of mind while they continue to search for work.”
