Las Vegas, NV – Nevada Senator Harry Reid released the following statement on the passing of former Utah Senator Bob Bennett:
“I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Bob Bennett. Senator Bennett was a wonderful man and a dear friend who served the people of Utah with honor and a courage. Landra and I extend our sympathies to his wife Joyce and their six children.
“Senator Bennett was the epitome of what a senator should be. Though we belonged to difference parties and often disagreed on policy, there was never any doubt that Senator Bennett did what he thought was best for the country and the people of Utah. He was a person who called things the way he saw them. Senator Bennett stood up for his beliefs, regardless of the consequences. The American people and the citizens of Utah are better off for having Bob Bennett in the United States Senate.
“I was lucky to call him my friend. We traveled the world together as members of the Senate, and I admired his tenacious work ethic and devotion to his family. Senator Bennett was one of the most accomplished legislators I have had the pleasure to work with, and he was also one of the kindest. I will miss him greatly.”
