Washington, D.C. – Nevada Senator Harry Reidtoday announced a $1,228,663 grant for the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services to support comprehensive HIV prevention programs. Aiming to reduce new HIV infections in Nevada, the grant will strengthen the Department’s capacity to increase testing and to refer and link individuals with HIV to proper medical care and services.

“Preventing the spread of HIV is a critical health priority, and this grant provides the support Nevada needs,” Reid said. “This funding will help to reduce cases in Nevada by making testing more accessible and by making sure that individuals already diagnosed are linked with appropriate medical services.”

The grant comes from the National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention, part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
