Washington, D.C. – Nevada Senators Harry Reid and John Ensign, and Congressman Dean Heller today announced the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded a grant of $500,000 from the Clean Fuels Grant Program for clean fuel bus replacements for Lake Tahoe.
“I am very pleased that the Transportation Department is providing these funds for new clean fuel busses at Lake Tahoe,” Reid said. “I am deeply committed to protecting clean air and water in the Lake Tahoe Basin, and this money will go a long way toward that goal.”
“We need to be good stewards of our environment,” said Ensign. “This funding will go a long way toward protecting the air and ecosystem at Lake Tahoe for future generations to enjoy, just as I enjoyed it while growing up. I am pleased that the Department of Transportation has recognized our desire to protect the beauty of Lake Tahoe in the water, on the land, and in the air.”
“Lake Tahoe is truly one of our state’s and our country’s greatest treasures. This federal funding will contribute to the on-going efforts to maintain and protect the beauty of one of America’s most precious natural wonders. I am pleased this funding has been made available,” said Heller.
