Reid Statement On Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month

Washington, D.C.- Nevada Senator Harry Reid issued the following statement on Asian American Heritage Month:

“The month of May is an opportunity to celebrate and reflect upon the countless contributions the AAPI community has made to Nevada and our entire country. Our nation is made stronger by its diversity and Asian Americans have contributed unique elements cultures and traditions to help strengthen America’s heritage. These countless individuals have excelled in the arts, commerce, academia, medicine, law, and public policy arenas. In the coming months the Senate will consider a bipartisan immigration reform package and I am committed to getting the bill across the finish line. In particular, this legislation will address family reunification which remains a vital issue for Nevada’s Asian-American community. It is my understanding that the Senate bill will clear the family back-logs so that families can finally come together in the U.S.  These measures will no doubt help families and individuals in the AAPI community now and in future generations. I wish all those celebrating this important cultural month good wishes.”
