Reid Statement On First Night Of Passover

Washington, D.C.- Nevada Senator Harry Reid issued the following statement to commemorate the first night of Passover:

“Each year, the story of Passover is retold in households across Nevada and the United States. As families and loved ones gather tonight I wish them peace and happiness for this evening and in the days ahead. The story of the exodus exemplifies our own American values of justice, hope, and freedom.

“These themes remain relevant in our own times and this night reminds us to consider those who are less fortunate than ourselves- the oppressed and troubled, those who have been hurt or disenfranchised, and those individuals who are unable to enjoy freedom and liberty.

“And tonight we also focus on the state of Israel. Our two nations share an unwavering bond, which President Obama’s reaffirmed on his recent rip, and I am committed to ensuring that America will always stand with Israel.

“To the many Americans who are celebrating this holiday, Chag Sameach- have a very joyous Passover.”
